 AMC forces are actively working to support relief operations in Haiti after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake devastated the Caribbean nation Jan. 12.
 AMC identified several of its C-17 and C-130 cargo aircraft for the relief operations according to officials, posturing them for immediate support. Additional aircraft will be made available as relief requirements become better known. Mission planning and command-and-control for the AMC portion of the humanitarian effort will be led by the 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center at Scott AFB, Ill.
 In addition to supporting U.S. war fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan, the 618th TACC can transition at a moment's notice to support emerging global situations, including humanitarian airlift and aeromedical evacuation.

California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2) is a specially-trained and equipped Urban Search and Rescue Task Force consisting of Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters and paramedics rescue specialists, emergency room physicians, structural engineers, heavy equipment specialists, canine search dogs and handlers, hazardous materials technicians, communications specialists, and logistics specialists. This unique technical rescue team responds with 55,000 pounds of prepackaged search and rescue tools and medical equipment to conduct around-the-clock search and rescue operations at domestic and international disasters, both natural and man-made.

A massive, 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti near the capital of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January 12th. United States Civil Defense is working to rush emergency supplies to survivors of this catastrophe in Haiti.
